Armagh International Road Race 2023

10th Feb 2023

Congratulations to the 26 boys and girsl who took part in the Armagh International Road Race at the Mall in Armagh last night, 9th February 2023 on a cold, dry night in Armagh, perfect for racing. First up were the 2015 boys; Fionn Mallon, Caodhan Mone and Casey McCann who tackled the 400m course putting in great performances. Next up were the 2016 girls Meabh Doherty and Lottie O'Neill, who completed the race hand in hand, crossing the line together! The race of the day was up next with the 2015 girls taking to the start line for the 400m course and bringing home three trophies in the process! This race was extremely competitive among the St Johns girls with Bobbi O'Neill putting in a stellar run to claim 2nd place, with Amelia-Rose Mackle and Isla Scott finishing strongly to claim 5th and 8th respectively and Eabha Connolly and Aine Doherty coming home close behind. The remaining races involving St John's pupils were the longer distance of 1400m with the boys and girls doing themselves proud, with Seaghdha-Daire McQuade finishing strongly in the boys 2013-2014 race followed by Rory Boyle, Jarlath Doherty, Jonny Gormley, James McCafferey, Ollie McCann, Aidan McKernan, Shay McKernan and Christopher O'Reilly. We only had the two girls participating in the next race with Ruby Hamilton and Mia McNamee enjoying their runs. The final two races involved 2011-2012 boys and girls, with Peter McKernan, Saran McQuade, Daire Moan and John Simpson taking to the road after last weeks cross country exploits for the boys and Grace Hamilton competing in the girls race. Well done everyone!!
