Cross Country

St John's Primary School were invited to their second Cross Country event of the year, hosted and organised by the A2 Sports Science students of St Patrick's Grammar school. In favourable conditions 17 boys and girls took to the 1400m course, featuring a killer hill at the finish, with some impressive results. First up were the P6 boys who were rewarded for their efforts on the day with some medals. Seaghdha-Daire McQuade finished in a very impressive 3rd place with Aian McKernan finshing strong in the last 20m to make up 4 places and finsh 4th with Oisin Curry doing likewise to finsh 7th. Also having a good race on the day and continuing to progress were Jarlath Doherty, Matthew Loughran, Jack McKernan, Christopher O'Reilly, Patrick McCann, Seanie Trainor and Rory Boyle. Next up were the P7 girls where Grace McKee finshed strong in the last 100m to make up 7 places to get the last medal on offer in 10th, with Hayley Donaghue and Tori McGuinness also performing admirably. In the last race of the day, Charlie Gormley also finished strong narrowly missing out on a medal in 11th place, with Jonny Gormley clsoe behind in 12th. Ollie McCann and Darragh Rice also participated and performed very well.
