NI Primary Schools Cross Country Champions!

30th Mar 2026

NI Primary Schools Cross Country Champions!! The St John's girls cross country team have been crowned NI Primary Schools Cross Country Champions for 2026 following an impressive finals day in Mallusk to end their Flahavan's Primary Schools Cross Country campaign in the best way possible. The school girls team followed up their regional champions success with another victory in the finals day, making them NI Primary School champions also. The team of Bobbi O'Neill, Isla Scott, Éabha Connolly, Amelia Rose Mackle, Emma McGeown and Molly Parkes had this title in their sights after their runners up finish last season, and were determined to go one better this year. Their dedication and determination throughout the winter paid off in Mallusk on a perfect day for Cross Country. Bobbi O'Neill was the first of the girls to cross the line in 15th position, closely followed by Isla Scott in 17th and Éabha Connolly in 24th with only 9 seconds separating them. Emma McGeown was the fourth and final placed runner a further 13 seconds back with Molly Parkes and Amelia Rose Mackle completing the team. On the back of this there was further success with Bobbi O'Neill and Isla Scott both qualifying to be part of the Northern Ireland Primary Schools Cross Country Squad for 2026-27!  If this wasn't enough, due to the team's success, Athletics NI are bringing their coaches and an Ambassador out to the school for a photo shoot and training session on Tuesday 31st March 2026! Massive congratulations to these girls and indeed all the boys and girls for their hard work this year in Cross Country!
